Refresher On Geopolitics

By Richard J. Maybury

23-Sept-01

Dear Reader,

For a refresher about "terrorism," guerrilla warfare, the implications of the U.S. fighting a guerrilla war in Central Asia, and investment ramifications, see:

Chapter 20 and 21 of my book The Thousand Year War.

These back issues of Early Warning Report:

September 2001, page 1

August 2001, pages 1 and 4

May 2001, page 6

March 2001, pages 6 thru 8

January 2001, page 1

November 2000, pages 7 and 8

October 2000, page 3

September 2000, pages 3 thru 6

July 2000, pages 4 and 5

May 2000, pages 4 and 5

February 2000, page 1

January 2000, page 1, pages 6 and 7

November 1999, pages 5 thru 7

October 1999, page 1, pages 7 and 8

June 1998, Pages 6 thru 8

May 1998, Pages 6 thru 8

August 1996, Pages 5 thru 8

I think the 9-11 attack has triggered plunging velocity, throwing us deeply into the Japanese disease. See EWR Back Issues: September 2001, page 7; March 2001, pages 5 and 6; March 1999, pages 6 thru 8.

However, wars tend to be inflationary, so I think the government will inflate us out of the Japanese disease. This could be an opportunity to buy many investments at bargain prices.

Do your best to develop a long-term view. The war has only begun. If President Bush carries out his promises, it is likely to be a world war. (More on that in the October EWR, due to be mailed September 28.)

My guess right now is that we will have a spike downward in prices of almost everything. Then a roaring inflation, with nearly all prices rising strongly. A triple-digit inflation within two years is not out of the question.

Good luck!
